I was born in Upstate, NY, and raised in Winston-Salem. I attended RJ Reynolds High School and obtained my degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been a Charlotte resident full-time since 1981, but my family has lived in the area since 1969. . Watching this city and region grow has been rewarding and illuminating. I have only two professions in life, Restaurants and Real Estate. My life has been filled with making people happy since I was 16. Food, drinks, and homes. I started my real estate career working for a new home builder in 1999. I am a full Broker in NC and SC, with Broker-in-Charge qualifications in both states. In 2020 I started a Real Estate School – Learn More Institute of Real Estate – to give back to the industry and its hard-working agents. My inspiration came from my maternal grandmother and her children. My mother and her sister. My grandmother was a career educator in a local high school. Her experience and motivation continue to shine through me today. I enjoy spending time with my wife, reading, cooking, and playing golf when not working.
John FitzGerald stands out in the real estate industry as a true leader that brings value to agents in the North Carolina market that few can match. Having lived in the Piedmont region since 1969, his knowledge of the local market is vast, but it’s his love of molding Realtors into top producers that set him apart from the crowd.
As a practicing BIC, John honed unique skills for identifying strengths and talents within his agents that allowed many to achieve a level of success they never imagined possible. His varied experience in the food service industry, new construction, general brokerage, sales management, and leadership roles in real estate lent to his ability to relate with all personality types at a high level and advise agents in diverse matters they may encounter while growing their businesses.
His background in management and leadership, coupled with inspiration from his grandmother, a lifelong Gaston County educator, led John into his current role as a North Carolina Real Estate Commission Licensed Instructor. His passion to help others is evident in his interactions with all agents, whether newly licensed or industry veterans, in the classroom and beyond. Learning the Superior way is John’s commitment.

When he is not teaching, mentoring, and coaching, John enjoys reading, cooking, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and their four-legged family.
